i went to the old timey barbershop in crestview. i went there once before about 4 years ago and the old man gave me such horrible haircut i never went back- until today. the barber, although very nice, is clearly suffering from end stage alziemhers. his poor old shaky fingers snipped away for over an hour with his razor sharp scissors a hairs width from my ear. i just knew there would be blood. and the whole time i sat there the people who were waiting just sat there staring as if i had done something very stupid. they were all there when i got there, but they were all waiting for the other barber. my barber was free and i got to sit immediately. i should have known then something was wrong. why weren't any of them interested in just letting this guy do theirs?
he talked the whole time and by the time i left he knew my life story. where i grew up, how many brothers and sisters i have(including marital status, geographical location, and occupation of them all), all about my "career", and all sorts of imaginary stuff about me. in fact, at one point in the conversation i actually LIED about my own age.... I don't know why i did it. he said, "what are you about 30?" and for some reason i just said yes. but then he asked what year i was born (as if to catch the lie) and i had to quickly do math. i'm not sure if i got it.
they also have a beauty salon in the same buiding. a woman came in and started talking about the jesus movie. "oh jesus" i thought. and i was right. she was a dumbass and blabbed on loudly all about the supposed "gore" in the movie. in her opinion the movie showed a necessary amount of reality for the common man to understand what jesus endured. it was not gore. she said when she was in high school driver's ed they showed movies with people's brains oozing out all over the highway and eyeballs rolling out- and THAT was gore. this was just poor jesus getting splinters and then being realistically shown getting crucified. it was a necessary rude awakening. most normal people just don't know what jesus went through. they think yeah yeah i know he died on a cross and all. but this puts it all in focus. she said they yanked out his beard too.
